How to Get a Copy of a Wicomico Court Document

Copies of court documents come in two types: uncertified and certified. A certified copy has the clerk's seal and confirms the document's authenticity — it is needed for submission to other courts, government agencies, or for immigration procedures. An uncertified copy is suitable for personal review.

How to obtain a copy:

  • In person — visit the Clerk of the Circuit Court office at the address listed above. You will need the case number or sufficient identifying information (party's name, approximate date).
  • By mail — send a written request specifying the case number, type of document, and return address. Include a check or money order for the appropriate amount.
  • Online — some records, including land records, are available through the Maryland Land Records portal. For court cases, use Case Search to find the case number, then order a copy through the clerk's office.

Divorce records after January 1, 1992, can also be verified through the Division of Vital Records of the Maryland Department of Health.

Some records have restricted access. Adoption cases, juvenile cases, and certain criminal records that have undergone expungement procedures are not issued without special court permission.
